A Glance into Our Patented WinOS Repair Technology

Technology

Reimage WinOS repair works by replacing system files automatically. It's like a clean WinOS reinstallation in one hour, without losing any programs, settings or any user data.

The Repository - A "spare parts" server with healthy operating system components

Reimage is the only WinOS repair product that has the technology to not only remove the cause of WinOS damage, but to also reverse the damage done. We do this with the use of our continuously updated online database, The Repository.

Quick facts

  • There are around 25 Million operating system components in the Reimage repository server.
  • WinOS 7 ultimate, for instance, has a total of 54,380 system files and 431,883 associated registry keys.
  • There is no way to really fix an operating system by only cleaning its registry keys. System files must be inspected as well.
  • Reimage Repository Team adds healthy files and variations to the online servers on a weekly basis.

An average WinOS repair downloads only a small part of the Reimage repository, but is there to serve hundreds of system configurations, old and new. Every PC in the world gets fast access to the repository thanks to a content distribution network (CDN).
The repository files are actually duplicated and stored in numerous geo locations so when you repair with Reimage, you download from the server nearest you.

Time Saver

The Reimage WinOS repair program saves you the time and hassle of having to:

  • Analyze running processes, trying to figure out what is good and what is bad.
  • Download endless registry cleaners and system optimizers.
  • Figure out if it's a virus or not.
  • Find your WinOS installation CD and realize it is out dated.
  • Format your computer, reinstall WinOS and actually "start from scratch".
  • Reinstall broken drivers, applications, recover license keys and passwords.

Using Reimage means you will never need to reinstall WinOS again.

How can system files be reinstalled automatically, while WinOS is still running?

The Reimage process scans all operating system files, including the registry. It compares each element to a healthy configuration in the Reimage repository and acts upon:

  • Components it verifies as belonging to your operating system - kept untouched
  • Components belonging to a legitimate program - kept untouched
  • Broken or missing operating system components - replaced with healthy components from the repository
  • Malicious components - detached from the operating system and quarantined

WinOS system components that are downloaded from our repository are carefully selected to fit your exact WinOS edition. But in most cases, it does not end there. There is usually a need to also tweak repository components after they are downloaded to fit the specific environment and settings of your PC.

Removing viruses & damage caused by viruses

  • Reimage uses a number of different virus engines simultaneously (such as our partner's, Avira) and a custom virus engine, developed by our R&D team. We use white lists together with black lists to better detect what should and should not reside in your operating system. This allows us to pinpoint and exterminate harmful components causing virus damage.
  • The Reimage repair automatically compares your PC’s system files with the Reimage repository files. Infected files are easily pointed out and then replaced with healthy ones. Damage is recovered with virus damage being removed.
  • Infected files locked by viruses or by your operating system will be replaced when you reboot your PC. Reimage is the ONLY program that removes virus damage from your computer.

Damage in Registry hives

Reimage is able to replace entire registry hives and/or reset individual registry keys that are corrupted. In cases of severe registry damage - Reimage first looks into your WinOS Restore for back up and if un available, the second option is to download and replace corrupted registry keys with clean registry keys from our repository.

Minimal requirements

Reimage doesn't run using a .NET framework or Java. It doesn't even use exciting flash images and 3D graphics. And there is a good reason for that. Reimage is designed to fix computers in any condition - low memory, old CPU, broken plug-ins and erroneous system installations - the only requirement is a working internet connection and around 512MB of RAM. Reimage is also designed to run in Safe Mode with networking, which is always the suggested approach (it disables most of the background programs and allows for a faster, smoother WinOS repair.)
